The next government holiday in Punjab is on 26 June 2017 (Monday), on the occassion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Eid-ul-Fitr is a religious festival, celebrated by muslims throughout the world. During the holy month of Ramadan, muslims observe fast for whole month. At the end of Ramadan, Eid-ul-fitr also called as feast of breaking the fast, is celebrated.
All government offices, schools, offices of boards, corporations and educational institutes in the state will remain closed. This day is also a bank holiday in Punjab, so all the private and public sector banks in Punjab will remain closed on this day. Note that banks and govt offices will be closed for 3 consecutive days from 24th to 26th June.

Bank Holidays In Punjab 2017

There are total 16 Bank Holidays in Punjab in the calendar year 2017. It is important to note that bank holidays are not same throughout the country. The list is issued by the respective state governments according to the directions of Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Punjab government has notified following holidays which would be observed as public holidays according to section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. Other than these holidays banks will remain closed on all Sundays and also on 2nd/4th Saturdays of each month.
