Sangrand 2025
Chet is the first month of the year according to the Bikrami Samvat calendar and hence the sangrand of Chet month is considered as the new year day. So according to desi calendar of 2025, the new year will start on Friday, 14th March 2025. Many readers will say that Vaisakh is the first month of the year and the festival of Vaisakhi is the new year day. But actually this festival is related to the harvesting season of wheat crop. Sangrand in August 2025
Sangrand is the first day of a month according to the traditional solar calendars and the Nanakshahi calendar. The date of Sangrand in September 2025 is 16th September 2025 (Tuesday) and this is the Assu month Sangrand (Assu Sangrand 2025).Desi month Assu (ਅੱਸੂ in Punjabi) will start on this date. Assu is the seventh month of an year according to the desi calendar and the Nanakshahi calendar.
The start of Assu month marks the end of the rainy season and also the summer season is at its tail end. In this month, the days are little warm but the nights become cooler and the air feels fresh. Assu is also a harvest month for the Kharif crops like rice and pulses.

Puranmashi September 2025
The night of Full Moon is called as Puranmashi (Pooranmashi or Punia) in Punjabi and the hindi word for this is Purnima. On this night, moon is visible as full circle and brighter than other days. As this is associated with the rotation of moon around the earth and each cycle takes little more than 29 days, so the day of puranmashi comes after almost 29 days.The date of Puranmashi in September 2025 is Sunday, 7th September and this is the Bhadon sudi puranmashi.

Masya September 2025
Masya or Amavasya is the new moon day. Moon is not visible on the night of masya. The day of Masya is related to the rotation of the moon around the earth. As each rotation takes approximately 29 days, so the day of Masya comes after around 29 days. In the month of September, the date of Masya is 21st September 2025 (Sunday) which is Assu Vadi Masya.According to Amanta Calendar (Hindu calendar from Amavasya to Amavasya), the new month starts from Amavasya. So according to this, the Assu month will start from 21st September 2025. Shradhs end on the Amavasya of the Ashwin month and the day next to Ashwin amavasya is the start of Navratri. So this year, Shradhs will end on 21st September 2025 and the date of first Navratri in 2025 is Monday, 22nd September.
