BDPO List Punjab

The total number of rural development blocks or BDPO in Punjab is 152. The latest addition to this list is Mohali in district S.A.S. Nagar, Amargarh, Ahmedgarh and Malerkotla (HQ) in newly formed Malerktla District. It is notable that Malerkotla-1 and Malerkotla-2 have been replaced by 3 new blocks in Malerkola district. In past few years Jaitu in district Faridkot, Goniana in district Bathinda, Arniwala Sheikh Subhan in district Fazilka, Shambu Kalan block in Patiala district and Malaud block in Ludhiana district were added to the list.
There are total 23 districts in Punjab and for the purpose of rural development, each district is further divided into development blocks or simply called as block. There is block development and panchayat office (BDPO Office, commonly pronounced as BDO) in each block and there is also a Block Samiti. The incharge of this office, block development and panchayat officer (BDPO), is also executive officer of Block Samiti.
